MR. LEONARD MARSHALL - BIO (jump to stats)
Football legend Leonard Marshall is a committed and passionate individual who continually strives to achieve personal and professional excellence. Mr. Marshall's intense passion for life and vision for the future has provided him with opportunities and accomplishments both on and off the playing field. Currently, he is a successful entrepreneur based out of Boca Raton, Florida and is also the CEO of Capital Source Mortgage.
 With an illustrious 13-year career as an NFL defensive lineman for the New York Giants, New York Jets, and Washington Redskins, Mr. Marshall also has 3 Pro Bowls and 2 Super Bowl Championships under his belt. During these years, he was also voted NFL Defensive Lineman of the Year in both 1985 and 1986. Proving his commitment to excellence, while in the NFL, Mr. Marshall attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where he graduated with a bachelor's in Business Finance. He was also a football star at Louisiana State University. Many fans recall Mr. Marshall's lighter side when they reminisce about his 5 years on the Howard Stern Show or as the co-host of NY Football (CBS) with Dick Lynch.
Mr. Marshall stays well connected to sports and the football community through his WFAN radio show The Leonard Marshall Show, which is broadcast live from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Aside from the roots he planted in the Florida market, he frequents the Northeast for sports and non- sports related business. Mr. Marshall is also the Co-Executive Producer of a series of exclusive invitation only events which targets the affluent sports enthusiast entitled Lunch with Legends™.
Hard work and discipline follow Mr. Marshall wherever he goes. Understanding that a football career had an expiration date, Mr. Marshall parlayed his education, skills and charisma into the business world by honing his business acumen in the financial markets, particularly with mergers and acquisitions, while serving on the board of a major NASDAQ financial services firm. The experience suited Mr. Marshall well as he transitioned from the locker room, to the board room.
Of his early ventures, Mr. Marshall was the Co- Founder, Chairman/CEO of Pro Star Athletic, a licensed Sports apparel company which manufactured merchandise in Korea, China, Turkey, and other countries abroad. The company maintained distribution agreements with several well-known retailers including J.C. Penney, The Sports Authority, K-Mart, Target, Modell's, and Meijer's of Grand Rapids Michigan. In 2000, after growth under his leadership, International Apparel Group of New York purchased his company.
The same diligent effort and focus Mr. Marshall applied to his football career he now applies to the mortgage business and a myriad of other business ventures and investments including the ATM business, commercial and residential real estate development in Florida, New Jersey and Canada. Mr. Marshall's strategic alliance with Sun Capital Group and Premier Mortgage Funding Inc., enabled him to become a respected Licensed Correspondent Mortgage Lender where he is licensed to write commercial and residential mortgages in over 30 states. With offices in Boca Raton, expansion remains his top priority.
As a Y2K Hall of Fame nominee, Mr. Marshall also had been awarded some national and international prominence for his charitable endeavors; He received the Byron "Whizzer" White Award in 1990; the United Way Lifetime Achievement Award; Miller Lite Man of the Year in 1986; Leukemia Society of America National Chapter's Boardship; and is now the spokesman for Kids in Distress Situations, Inc. More recently, Mr. Marshall is involved with Caring for Kids through the Palm Beach Chapter of the NFL Alumni and has recently launched the Leonard Marshall Football Academy at the West Boca High School in Boca Raton.
While Mr. Marshall travels between Florida and the Northeast, his primary residence is in Boca Raton, Florida where he lives with his wife Maryann. He is the father of two daughters, Erika Christina & Arianna Nicole.
